Meant only as CBS replacement show slated for the summer of 1990, Northern Exposure garnered acclaim for its contemporary language and down-to-earth morality, as delivered by a bevy of quirky and warm hearted characters. From meager beginnings there grew a staunch fan base that now has an international element. All over the world, people respond to the show's consistent reference in a personal and communal way to the place that humanity has within the nature - where behavior and temperament are often seen to be influenced by the lessons of totem animals and by the rugged beauty that surrounds the characters in Cicely, Alaska (aka; Roslyn, Washington!).
